Bear 753 aka: Hope & Bounce

Proof that bear misbehavior is not caused by humans…other than the Bear League

Following the confrontation by the Bear League interfering with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife employee who was merely hazing the two bears in an attempt to teach them to stay away from homes.

“After the field technician left, volunteers from the Bear League stayed with Hope and Bounce, Bryant said.” “We’ve been with her since yesterday, when they finally let her come down out of the tree and we stayed with her,” Bryant said. “We had people that slept out in the woods with her and the cub, nearby, kept an eye on them all night long.”

Yet it was during this time that these videos of the two bears trying to break into another home were made. Perhaps the hazing would have worked without the interference of the Bear League.

The California Department of Fish & Wildlife didn’t consider this to be a serious incident. However, there was a night shift worker sleeping in the bedroom at the time the bear was attempting to break in. Had they succeeded in breaking in, it could have led to a dangerous confrontation in the home.

Huge bears like this have no difficulty in tearing down solid hardwood doors or even tearing doors off of automobiles, a glass door only requires a hefty push to shatter the glass. Had the bear been successful in smashing down the window or door and entered the house it could have led to a fatal encounter with the occupant who had been sleeping. This is the most dangerous type of bear encounter because both would be startled, passably escalating the situation into a violent confrontation – especially with the cub involved.

But all that Fish & Wildlife cared about was the amount of financial damage, and they didn’t consider a thousand dollars to be enough damage to do anything.

Bear 753 second attempt to break-in in LESS THAN 24 HOURS

Here they are returning the next morning. There is nothing unusual about the house, no unusual aromas or attractions other than it was quiet. These were simply random attacks by the marauding bears.

It’s easy for the bear to break through the window.
